IPX1 / IPX2 Drip Box (IEC 60529)

The Ormity IPX1/IPX2 Drip Box is a precision dripping water test equipment designed for IEC 60529 ingress protection compliance testing.

It is designed as a modular precipitation distribution platform delivering uniform vertical water dripping for IPX1 and IPX2 testing applications.

Engineered for IEC 60529 – Clauses 14.2.1 and 14.2.2

The system supports:

  • IPX1 vertical dripping test

  • IPX2 dripping test (sample positioning performed externally as required by the standard)

Nozzle spacing strictly follows the IEC-required 20 mm × 20 mm grid configuration to ensure:

  • Uniform precipitation density

  • Stable droplet formation

  • Repeatable and certification-grade test conditions

The drip box itself remains a fixed precipitation distribution system. Any sample positioning or inclination required for IPX2 testing is performed externally by the laboratory using appropriate sample support fixtures.

Modular Architecture – Scalable in 500 x 500 mm Sections

The Ormity drip box is engineered as a true modular manifold system, extensible in 500 × 500 mm sections.

This enables laboratories to:

  • Cover larger test envelopes

  • Expand precipitation coverage without compromising spacing geometry

  • Maintain consistent hydraulic balancing across extended areas

The modular architecture preserves the IEC-compliant 20 mm × 20 mm grid geometry across all connected sections.

Many low-cost fixed plate systems lose precipitation consistency when expanded or adapted.

Consistent Pluviometric Distribution

Uniform water distribution is critical for ingress protection testing.

The Ormity manifold is internally engineered to provide:

  • Stable hydraulic balancing

  • Even flow distribution across all quadrants

  • Minimal pressure variation between nozzles

  • Consistent precipitation density across large surfaces

This ensures reproducible waterproof testing performance — particularly in expanded modular configurations.

SS316L Stainless Steel Manifold Construction

The internal water distribution network is fully constructed from SS316L stainless steel, providing:

  • High corrosion resistance

  • Long-term dimensional stability

  • Structural rigidity

  • Compatibility with filtered recirculation systems

  • Industrial durability for high-usage laboratories

This construction prevents deformation and distribution instability commonly found in aluminum plates or improvised tubing assemblies.

Precision Threaded Stainless Micronozzles – No Hypodermic Needles

Each precipitation outlet consists of:

  • Precision-machined stainless steel M5 threaded micronozzles

  • 0.4 mm calibrated orifice

  • Individually replaceable units

Ormity does not use adapted hypodermic needles.

Needle-based drip systems present multiple technical risks:

  • Easy bending during handling

  • Misalignment affecting vertical droplet formation

  • Distortion of the required 20 mm × 20 mm geometric spacing

  • Safety hazards during maintenance

  • Progressive degradation of precipitation consistency

Our threaded stainless nozzle architecture ensures:

  • Stable vertical alignment

  • Preserved grid geometry

  • Mechanical robustness

  • Long-term compliance stability

Ultrasonic Cleanable Nozzle System

Each nozzle can be:

  • Removed individually

  • Cleaned in ultrasonic baths

  • Reinstalled without affecting spacing geometry

This enables:

  • Predictable maintenance cycles

  • Long-term repeatability

  • Minimal downtime

  • Sustained IEC 60529 compliance

Disposable needle systems cannot provide this level of maintainability or dimensional control.

Installation Flexibility

The Ormity IPX1 IPX2 Drip Box can be:

  • Wall-mounted

  • Ceiling suspended

  • Installed on adjustable frames

  • Integrated into custom test chambers

It is designed as a precipitation distribution unit only. Sample positioning systems, rotation tables, or tilt mechanisms are external laboratory accessories and not intrinsic components of the drip manifold.

Typical Applications

  • Certification laboratories

  • Appliance manufacturers

  • EV enclosure developers

  • Lighting testing facilities

  • Industrial control panel manufacturers

  • Third-party compliance testing labs

  • CHOOSING THE BEST DRIP BOX MANIFOLD

Please select the dimension of the drip box manifold that best fits your needs; please take in mind that your sample, when tilted 15 degrees, will need an extra 100mm because of the eccentricity of sample dislocation over the turn table, as per the Norm requirement. Please read article 14.2. and 14.2.2 of the IEC 60529. Also, consider that the equipment has a util area, the manifold outer dimension, and less 10mm margin around.
